haRasha at the NYINC Day II

Well, originally, since I had a pretty good day yesterday, I considered not returning today.
However, as previously mentioned, there was the matter of the medal box from CNG. Also, I really wanted to see Schulman's inventory. It had not arrived by mid-day, and he is one of my favorite vendors.
So, I returned.
Picked up the medal box from CNG, then went over to Schulman. Picked up a stunning medal of Pieter van Abeele. I also purchased a medal of Holtzhey because it reminded me of MLP, believe it or not. If you do not know the initials, you will find out in a later post.

During my visit, I again said hello to Dennis88 and chatted briefly with Zohar.
I spoke more extensively with EVillageProwler. Yessir, I figured out the van Abeele medal.
I sometimes have a difficult time explaining my motivation for collecting, but EVillageProwler articulated it wonderfully; I like to collect coins and medals that participated in history, rather than observe it.

Was at the show as well, got there a little on the late side, brought the wife, so wasn't there all that long, wasn't terribly social besides the dealers I knew. Didn't buy anything but saw some lovely things. Hope you all had a good show!

The van Abeele piece sounds interesting. Baldwin's had some nice van Abeele's, but they were, alas, out of my price range.

I like your show reports harasha. Its been a long time since I last walked a major show and it is interesting to hear the different mindsets and strategies as well as the human side of the shows.

My van Abeerle is no where near as nice (or expensive!) as those at the Baldwin table.
