One day, a long time ago...

a young baseball fan wrote to his idol, telling him that he was a great outfielder and hitter, and how much he loved watching him play. The young fan didn't know that you weren't supposed to get rookie cards signed, hell, they didn't even call them rookie cards back then. The star outfielder graciously complied with the request, and even put return postage on the envelope and sent it back. Flash forward 60 years, and now it proudly resides in my collection. To the youngster, who is now most likely an AARP member, hats off to you.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I lost out on a signed Clemente rookie a couple years back, so I really wanted this one. My goal is to acquire as many postwar Hall of Fame signed rookie cards as I can. The big obstacles are the 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson, the 1949 Bowman Satchell Paige and the 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle. The tough modern card is the 1984 Fleer Update Kirby Puckett. About changing the blue flip to red, I will change them over when I get closer to having the majority of the cards.
