Which 1989 Fleer Randy Johnson Marlboro error will accompany the Ripken "scribble" version

Does anyone know? Is it always consistent?
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!

IIRC, the Johnson went through several (if not all) variations before the FF was covered at all. My guess would be only the fully blacked-out version accompanies the 'scribble' Ripken. From JWG (with minor edit to allow posting here):

This is the most common type found. In fact, these have been pulled out of boxes that contain the Bill Ripken “F*** Face” error, a testament to how quickly all these changes were made to this card. This is the “Blacked Out” version, the final version, using a similar method of correction as card #616 – a full black-out of the offensive area. This is the version most frequently found for sale and it’s also the version that comes out of factory sets (they were produced last).

+1. I opened an 1989 box a few months ago and got a Ripken scribble variation. Out of the same box, I got a Randy Johnson and it was the fully blacked out version.

I opened a rack case last summer and got the FF error with the fully blacked out Randy Johnson card. So it was completely fixed prior to any attempt at fixing the Ripkens, as stated above.

Couple of examples of both, including some fakes of FF. Plus, the disappearing Hernandez red triangle and the Treadway target

    its very inconsistent.....

the 1989 fleer variations are tough to find especially some of the lesser known...Neil Allen, Manny Trillo, Ed Vande Berg and Danny Heep...if you get these in packs you almost always get F Fack Ripkens

The Randy Johnson Clear and Clearer Marlboro Sign variations are wayyyyyy more rare......

and lastly the checklist sf/sd with the positions on it is the most rare....I sold 1 of 2 I have ever seen............

honestly., its pretty impossible to get early boxes now unless someone bought a few day 1 and never opened......
    Buying:
Topps White Out (silver) letters Alex Gordon
80 Topps Greg Pryor “No Name"
    90 ProSet Dexter Manley error
90 Topps Jeff King Yellow back
    1958 Topps Pancho Herrera (no“a”)
81 Topps Art Howe (black smear above hat)
    91 D A. Hawkins BC-12 “Pitcher”
  • Is it just the SF/SD checklist that has the position variations on front or were all of the 1989 Fleer checklists produced erroneously with positions on front?
  • All the 1989 Fleer checklists (7 total) are available with positions listed on the front. These are extremely rare though and very seldom, if ever, even seen.
