Dan Marino 2000 Collectors Edge Personal Collection

Hello everyone, hope you all had happy holidays and will have a prosperous new year.
I have a 2000 Collector's Edge Graded #112 Personal Collection - Dan Marino card. Back of card, below stats it shows PERSONAL COLLECTION 001/001. The card has been encased by PSA and states SAMPLE.
When I look up the card on Beckett, it shows 49 cards in this PERSONAL COLLECTION all having a print run of 1 and all showing - supposing to be autographed.
My card has NOT been autographed, but has been encased by PSA as a SAMPLE.
Any comments on this?
Seems that a 1 of 1 that was supposed to have been autographed is very odd for it to have been encased as a SAMPLE.
I can provide pics if needed.
Thank you and hope to hear from someone on this.
Thanks again,

I have somewhere in my card storage containers a 1993 Collector's Edge Elway auto card that I pulled from the pack. Don't remember what it is stamped on the back though??
  • Thanks for your response Stingray - kind of hoping to get info on the Dan Marino 2000 Collectors Edge

Do you have scans/pics you can post?
  • Thanks for responding. Trying to upload pics - but not figuring it out. Will keep trying

  • Pics will not upload. When I attach files, the location of pics shows on screen, and it shows the files have been added to the screen, but they do not upload. I will see if I get response from you later and maybe I can give you my FB location for you to look at them.
Thanks again, talk to you later,

Edge had these slabbed by PSA themselves, so if it's slabbed as a Sample then that's what Edge instructed PSA to do. They probably used these as dealer samples to show the type of stuff that could be pulled, I doubt this is a true 1/1.

    Agreed 100%.
  • Thank you, same response I got from CDsNUTS. Any chance of getting PSA to unslab it and get Marino to sign it?

You can crack it out yourself, there's plenty of posts on here of how to do it. Anything to smash one of the corners around the label and a screwdriver to pop it open. I don't keep track of Marino signings or what he charges, but it might be cheaper to purchase one of the existing 1/1s whenever one pops up.
  • Sounds like an adventure in the making. But think I'll just leave it like it is for now and contemplate the concept. If I ever get to the point of attack on this, I'll let you know what happens.
Thank you again for your input
