How do you know it wasn't made before 1973 in which case it would be legal?

There are a few period 1 round 1/4 dollar coins that are dateless but none of the $1 coins.

It doesn't matter whether I know or don't know when it was made. And you should be smart enough to recognize that. Go ask a Treasury Bureau agent if you aren't smart enough.

The HPA only applies to coins made after the act was passed. If you don't believe me, go ask a Treasury Bureau agent.
