eBay question,,,,,,,

GRANDAMGRANDAM Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just listed my 1st coin on eBay in over 2 years and it sold within 5 minutes. In checking the buyers feedback it just shows lots of purchases within the last month but you can't click on anything to see what the guy is buying,,,,, is this normal?

Like I said it has been a long time since I sold anything on eBay. It is a $400 coin and don't want to get stiffed.

Thanks, GrandAm image

It's normal now. You cannot see bidders bidding history or what they bought.

You can see who the person is buying from. If you really want to know, click on the sellers feedback and attempt to figure out by number of feedback whAt he purchased. If the previous seller was high volume you may not be able to narrow it down. Realistically though I have had way more problems with people who buy inexpensive coins than those who spend a couple hundred bucks. It can be a bit nerve wracking though. I had a buyer once who must have joined ebay to buy a seated dime I listed because his join date was the day he purchased from me.

click on your buyer's feedback number
Note the number of feedback your buyer has
click on a seller's name in your buyer's feedback list
find a buyer that matches your buyer's feedback number, this is most likely your buyer
click on "view item" for that buyer to see what he purchased

Several of his sellers have "coin" names so I think all is well. I had just never seen where you could not see what they bought. What is weird is that I can see it on some buyers and not others.

Thanks for the info, GrandAm image

you can still see what a bidder has won at watchcount.com

It is helpful checking new bidders to see if the chances of you are not going to get paid are good
especially since you can only limit buyers with below (-2) feedback
which can only be attained by selling as buyers no longer get negative feedback
and have no incentive to make contact or follow through with purchase if they get cold feet or better deal somewhere else

ebay started curtailing some of the info on feedback screens, like hiding the item# and/or the user id. I think that started earlier in 2014 or so.

Don't forget about toolhaus.org - they have some cool feedback tools there.

I cannot understand why anything someone buys is anyone elses business anyway. Can I do that anywhere else? Heritage? Amazon? etc?

Yeah, it is sorta questionable in a way, from the perspective of buyer privacy. I kinda wonder if ebay will cut them off sometime...

OTOH, no personal details seem to be revealed by that tool, and usually only the buyer and seller have each others ebay id's.

You are a luckier seller than most who have to wait quite a while to sell, maybe listed too cheap?
