I'm going crazy..this happen to anyone?

For example, I buy/ win a psa 9 vintage card. Years, months of searching. Get it. Looks great...corners sharp, finally a centered card in a known difficult year. Great example and just stare at it over the day. Finally the search has ended. image After going through 40-50 examples that were limited due to centering issues, I've found my grail. Thing of beauty.

Then the next day looking at it...its maybe 75/25 at best but def not as well centered as thought. Top and bottom. Ugh.coulda sworn......
Let me recheck..yep waay off. Enough where the search may have to continue.

Oh well
Interested in higher grade vintage cards. Aren't we all. image

  • All the time. Mostly when searching my own cards to submit to PSA.
I have to lay the 50-50 centered ones aside for a day or two and re-check them.
Sure enough, they will be off center on the second look.

I really try to scrutinize ebay cards for that but often buy off centered ones thinking they are perfect.
My pet peeve is getting off centered 10's. It means someone at PSA suffers from the same issue.

I think it's part of getting old! I've been collecting the 1971 Topps Greatest Moments set for over 3 now and just need a handful of cards. One of the cards I needed was Jim Perry. Last week, someone had a Jim Kaat card sale, BIN. I instantly pulled the trigger then realized: both Jim's, both pitchers, both Twins. Wrong card. LOL at the senior moment. (The guy also had the Perry so I bought it as well). I'll re-sell the Kaat as it was a good price.
