FSH: Major Taler Lot (Updated)

End of the year is nice as it provides some downtime to review and plan. I spent some time at the bank reviewing my collection in finer detail. I decided it makes sense to prune the collection where I carry multiple pieces of the same type (and I realized that I have become a hoarder!). Many of these are in MS condition and I am looking for my cost on most. Will bring with me to the NY show in January and then decide if to consign to an auction house or keep for now. Not sure if there are Taler collectors here that focus on these, yet should anyone here have interest in any, feel free to reach out by PM for image or quote.

That lot would make most major auction houses drool. Good luck with the selling effort. Perhaps you can reignite this corner of the hobby.

I've seen many of these pieces in hand, and I can tell you that they are not gnarly pieces. I will admit up front that Zohar is a friend, but my assessment of the coins that I've seen are unbiased. Also, I wish to add that Zohar is a good and honest person with a keen and knowledgable collector's eye for this stuff.

For anyone looking to pick up some nice pieces for a starter set, these pieces are worthy of consideration.

For the taler collectors, this list is an opportunity to get a piece at Zohar's cost, without the competition, the snipes, the stress, the commissions and all the negatives of an auction. If I were interested in one single piece, I would PM Z. and he'd simply remove it from the list should we come to an agreement.

I know that Z. has become more demanding in quality, but these are coins that would make a lot of collectors very happy. If this is a starter's set, then you taler guys start very high. image

Some success in selling these at the show and I will pass by show tomorrow to see if there is more interest at tail end.

I am still keeping my day job though!
