quick question on a variety submission

so if one anties up for variety service...they put the whole guacamole on the label...FS-###-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH

but if the coin has a special # already
will they put the coins nickname on there?

noteworthy varieties with a common reference names...no extra $$$ needs be spent right?

like extra leaf high or low or do we gotta cough up for that extra leaf high or low to be put on the label?

  • You have to ante up and do the research yourself unless it is an automatic type variety. ICG will often do it for free but how marketable are they? NGC is about the same but a guy told me NGC did a free attribution on a Morgan variety. Too bad you can't just check a conditional box and get charged if they find a variety that would add value.

    "unless it is an automatic type variety"

    that's what i'm asking about
    the automatic type variety here

    no additional fee is required unless one wants the FS stuff listed

    great example of the coin i'm talking about is the high n low leaf quarters
    if one sends them in under just those coin #'s...they still put "high or low leaf" on the label right?
    just no FS # stuff

    If the coin is listed in the Redbook they will put most of the info on the holder. For example I had sent them about 5 pieces 1960-D Large over Small Date. Because it is in the Redbook no extra fee was needed. If you want the FS-# on it then you would need to ante up. The value is the same with or without the FS-#. I always opt to go with the lesser cost. You can check the coin number look up to see what the non-FS number is.

    I always thought if it was in the major varieties sets (Tailbar,etc) it was a normal submission, you would just list the PCGS coin number. Anything else would be the variety fee.

    that's all i was asking here...thanks all

    it's a cherry pick that hasn't sent yet is why i'm dancing around here with examples
    but this coin has a special # assigned
    it has a reference name of the variety so noted on coin #
    it's a blatant no brainer coin

    i'm just hoping no one checks before it gets stuffed in the envelope before sending is all...it kinda stands out image

    Be sure that you put the right coin number for the variety on your form.
    It's not automatic, you still need to use the right coin number.

    Like the extra leafs:

    814033 = extra leaf low
    914033 = extra leaf high
