I have been waiting for a red flip special from PSA and it seems like it has been forever since they had one.

Last Feb or March they had a special that was $18, which I thought was pretty good. I was hoping there would be something similar a couple of months from now so I could justify a sub as "a birthday gift to myself."

I'd do $18.00. So when is your b-day Dan? I ask because mine is in late Feb and Judging from your post, yours is too.
Mine is late February too although no one is asking

Haha!
I have no wrestling cards to give lol
I did however go to lots of matches in the early 80's down here in Saint Petersburg. It was quite entertaining. My favorite wrestler was Dusty Rhodes. I thought it was awesome when he became the Midnight Rider after losing that cage match to some guy (forget his name). Since he lost he wasn't allowed to wrestle in Fl for an extended period of time. That's why he cheated and became the Midnight Rider. Good times.
I'm thinking about putting one together. I just can't submit a few hundred. Maybe 100 max red flip with grade, the end of January. Pm for details
Also, anyone need to go blue to red with grade?
Red flip gets you into psa set registry, with blue you are limited to psa/DNA registry. Blue's are cheaper to submit, but in my eyes, FWIW, more buyers and more competition when you pay for reds
I would be interested in a group sub for either red flip, or for blue flip w/ auto grade, though I'd skip blue flip w/o auto grade. I've got around 10 to 12 items, I think.
<< <i>Do they give you the option of grading the card or labeling it authentic? >>
I'm pretty sure the Red flip will always have the card graded whatever it deserves, and only labeled as "Authentic" if it would not otherwise qualify for a numerical grade; I don't remember seeing an option to request just authentic w/ no numerical grade, but that could be wrong I suppose.

That's not accurate. The way we've done this in the past is that we do one sub specifically intended for Red Flip w/ grade and one for Red Flip Authentic. It's correct that with an altered or trimmed card that is sent in for a numerical grade, an Authentic is the default if it doesn't qualify for a number grade. But we traditionally do the two different submissions.
It is very clear that there is enough demand. No need for people to post more "I'm in" type comments. The only barrier, I think, is finding someone who is (a) willing to take on the task of organizing a group sub with 500, or maybe even up to 1000, items, and (b) reliable enough to be trusted and run it smoothly. It's a lot to ask and I am not surprised that it runs infrequently.
If someone's going to do this, I would take the tack of making an offer to Joe. I think the offer needs to be 1000 cards at 12.00/card. If we can't come up w/ more than 750, $12.50/card. Less than 500, $13.00/card. My suspicion is that with a set offer like that, we'd be successful in setting this up with Joe.
<< <i>I would be shocked if we couldn't get to 1000. >>
Eeehhhhhh, it's been the tipping point in the past. A lot of people only have 10-20. Also in the past we've had a 10 card minimum to keep it easier on whomever is running it.
There is also the tallboy question. Most times we have a separate tallboy sub as part of this but not always. I'm hoping we are able to get enough tallboys to make it part of it.
I just recounted. I have 132 regular and 10 tallboys.

Also, just to be clear, I'd only do that many if it were 12 or 12.50. I'd do less if it had to be more money.
Based on conversations here and on SCN, I have seen a lot of demand. Obviously, people have to put their money where their mouths are, but I am hopeful that we can swing it.
As long as this is a custom-negotiated sub, can we request that larger size holders be included? I've got one team-issue post card size item I'd love to have in the mix if possible, and maybe one other tallboy in addition to the standards.
I'd participate in the sub. My wishlist would include:
1) Option to include oversized cards - Sportscasters, Exhibits, etc - extra cost would be ok. 2) Option to include higher dollar items at a higher cost - ex blue flip going now you can submit higher dollar items but have to pay extra for them
Depending on prices, I'd submit around: Oversized - 25 High Dollar - 25 Regular - 200
If we're coming up with that kind of volume, 1,000 plus items, I think it should be originally proposed to PSA that the group deal includes all holder sizes at the same fee, and only negotiate down to requiring an additional fee if necessary. Their various monthly specials are typically good for standard or tallboy holders at the same per-card fee, so I can't see how we shouldn't be able to work out having tallboy holders at the same cost as standard on a red auto flip. The supersize holders would be nice to get at the same rate as well, but I also see that as a separate negotiation point from the tallboy holders.
I am waiting to hear back from my rep regarding a larger price break if we can come up with 1000 cards. However, I think that quantity might be difficult to obtain since we only hit the 1000 card mark once out of the past 5 group subs I have done.

Can you tell me what the difference between a red flip and blue flip is?
Thanks!

Blue flip pertains to auto being graded or authenticated only. Nothing to do with the card itself.

Different type of sub. You can actually send those in on a regular card special.
