Rickey Says "Happy Birthday!"

The only player to ever talk in 3rd person. "Rickey says that Rickey told everyone that today is Rickey's birthday."

All the time. In fact, he was so into himself, he didn't know who his own teammates were sometimes.

Rickey once framed a very large paycheck and hung it on his wall, not realized that he had to take it to the bank to actually get the money.
Late in his career, the team was all getting onto a bus and a discussion came up between a coach and a younger player regarding the seats in the front of the bus. The coach advised the player that only players with tenure could sit in those seats. Rickey overheard the discussion and said, "Tenure? I got Twenty year!!"
Sounds like a fun guy and good teammate

Bo Jackson did a lot of that. I'm a big fan, but it was annoying listening to him talk about himself in the 3rd person.
Till I told him he "runs like a girl."
Now? Not even a card.
Classic Rickey story....the day he set the stolen base record he says "today I'm the greatest in the world" then later that day Nolan Ryan throws his seventh no hitter. So wasn't the headliner on sportscaster, evening sports. Sometimes there is balance in the universe.
