Since I already own a nice non-portrait Offa, I'm not sure if I should be happy about this...
The other day while bemoaning going 0-fer at the recent Spink auction, a friend reminded me that the good thing about Anglo-Saxon coins is that new ones are always being found. But 3000 to 5000 new pieces - OMG!!!
Hi Josh. I believe the local archaeologists were called in right away and took charge of the recovery. They will be deemed treasure trove. I don't know if the museum will acquire the whole lot or if some or all might be released to be sold on the open market.

Surely this will be declared treasure trove. I'll be curious to see how it plays out.
