I don't see how Beckett, a grading company and a pricing guide leader, owning an auction house can't arouse conflict of interest concerns.

  • I agree. The very concept of TPGs are that the graders are "third parties"--i.e. they do not have a hand in profiting from the sale of the items that they grade. This blurs the line.
  • It is rather ubiquitous throughout this industry, just rarely made public. This could be dangerous as this may be illegal if a specific person within the company is intentionally benefiting from the conflict (I think we all know someone is). I have a pit feeling in my stomach some entity will be stepping up to say something in the future.

Aren't Heritage and CU tied together in some way?
