I wonder if losing the NFLPA License in 2016 caused Topps to dump Chrome on the market?

After opening up 2 1/2 cases, I have to say that 2014 is the worst Topps Chrome FB product I have ever cracked. The value per box was already bad due to the overproduction but the short printing the key rookie autos is just another kick in the grapes.

I have to wonder if Topps is saying to heck with it and is going to pump out more trash over the next 12 months. With UD having the CLC license, Topps will not be in the football card game at all next year unless they want to go the Press Pass/Sage route (I exclude Leaf from that group since their products are high quality).

As a loyal Chrome collector, I am very disappointed in Topps. 2013 Chrome turned out to be a much better product, at least you had a decent chance to pull a Lacy or Bell auto.

I was considering picking up a case so I appreciate the warning. Edited to add, I last checked the price of a case less than 2 weeks ago and blowout had it for 600 and D and A was over 700. Just checked again and D and A has it for $559 and Blowout is at $499.

Sadly $500 is still way overpriced IMHO. I've never seen so many bad breaks in all my life. It looks like rack packs are the way to go. At least you get good color out of them

Topps will sell as much as they can because they have to have pay 40 Million in October.

Good info. Looks like I will be avoiding Topps Football going forward. They still have a license for 2015, I wonder how they will dump all of those sticker autos they have.

As for color refractors I wish they would have gone all around the borders instead of just the sides.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing. Sounds like they are going to be much more interested in apps-based revenue going forward. I confess that I don't know much about how those apps work. The way the article described them, it sounds like it's just a different flavor of fantasy sports.

I bought one blaster box of Chrome from Target and the results were very underwhelming. Too many B-list names and no-name rookies in the parallels. Not even any star power in the base cards, which seemed unusual. The best base card name I pulled was Richard Sherman. I was at my LCS the other day and the guy I spoke with was pretty down on the product.
