Submission Question

Looking at sending a collectors club special in. This month it is cards valued less than $100. How is that determined? SMR? Some I have would be worth less than $100 in an 8 but far more in a 9. Need guidance.

Thanks

  • There's no hard-and-fast rule. Use your best estimate of the value of the card in its current condition based on your opinion. SMR can be a helpful guide, along with eBay completed sales or VCP. If it's close, don't worry about it and err toward submitting - PSA has not been known to be incredibly strict about this.

I've always felt that if you need a top grade to break the 100 you're usually ok. It's hard to expect a 10, and even a 9 can be tough depending on the issue. I usually grade in my head and subtract a grade and if around 100 it goes.

    Good luck

Under PSA Submission Guidelines it says--
    j. Declared value: PSA requires you estimate a value for each item you submit based on its condition. The value will determine your service level and return shipping fees.
If you are not sure of the value, you may use the SMR price guide, other trade publications, auction results or contact a PSA authorized dealer.

I generally assume a NM-MT grade and price them accordingly. If there is limited pricing I will use my cost.

In the nearly five years I have sent cards to PSA I have never had one not graded due to a pricing discrepancy.
