Help for a seller setting on Ebay to mail to PO Box

bestdaybestday Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭✭
Bought a coin Wednesday on Ebay .. went to pay for it on Paypal, but got a PayPal message saying seller doesn't not ship to PO Boxes
Contacted the seller ,he says he doesn't mind shipping to a Po Box, but Paypal prevents him from doing so.. Strange I bought 3 other coins Wednesday that are being shipped with no problem to my PO Box
Is there a Paypal setting that this seller can activate, to allow shipping to PO Boxes ?

Is he trying to use Fedex? They don't deliver to PO boxes.

Or UPS. I checked my Paypal settings and did not see a PO box option.

He may have forgotten to change an ebay setting

They can do "no" PO box in ebay

There is a work around or two I can suggest, but perhaps calling paypal for their rec is best so buyer and seller protections on both systems are retained.

Both FedEx and ups deliver to PO boxes now.

My mail carrier mentioned that a couple days ago. He said that they had a few pallets of popcorn gifts just from APMEX. I believe that they have been doing both for awhile now.

Except that they don't. And FedEx

I'd guess this is an eBay setting, not PayPal. Why not you just send the seller a payment directly through PayPal (not eBay checkout). Make sure you specify the item number/title and your eBay ID with your payment so you will have the normal buyer protection for buying something. If your shipping address is a PO Box, that should work fine. Most settings for listings (including shipping restrictions) can't be edited once a bid is placed, so I don't think there'd be a way within eBay to make this change.

That's weird, since IMO one obligation of a buyer is to provide a safe secure address for receiving packages.

This is technically true. You need to use the address of the Post Office rather than P.O Box example

If the buyer uses the "Request Total" function on eBay using their PO Box as the shipping address, and the seller responds, it will then allow a PO Box for shipment when it was first denied. I just did it yesterday.

I believe commoncents05 is exactly right on this. I have done this also. But it only works if the seller wishes to comply and complete the transaction. If he doesn't want to complete it, he can use the "I don't ship to p o boxes" as a reason to cancel the transaction.
