Looking to use my 5x eBay bucks but I halted when I saw all the negs. Anybody know what's happening with this seller? This reminded me of Klinger's site before I knew what happened there.

FWIW - I ordered a bunch of cards from them in a single order a few years back, before I got into graded. I wasn't overly happy with quality, it took them forever to ship, and a few cards were undersize (trimmed?). I didn't bother with a return, but wouldn't go outta my way to buy from them again even though a few of them did grade OK. I did order over 30 cards though, so there was bound to be some misses, so maybe I'm being too harsh.

    Good Luck.

That is a lot of negs. It's not just recently it's throughout the entire year. I wonder how ebay allows for him to keep his seller status?

  • This seller has a longstanding reputation for selling off-grade stuff. A lot of times you won't even receive the items you paid for. About 4 times a year, he has local auction and sells his stuff in big lots (same stuff for sale on ebay) but doesn't bother taking the stuff off of the bay. Steer clear. He also has multiple ebay accounts. I have first hand knowledge of multiple trimmed cards from this seller. Hope this information helped.

Thanks everybody! This is a great place to check on dealers/sellers. Makes all the drama worthwhile.

I bought from them beginning of the year, the best cards from every lot are in the picture. After that, at least in my experience, it always declined significantly.

Their grades per the auction are generally at LEAST 1 to 2 level over actual.

I should add that when I contacted them about returns, it was no questions asked so from that standpoint they were good.

<< <i>He used to have decent stuff (circa 2010) but no more. >>

I agree with this. I used to consider one grade below what he put on his listing and bought accordingly. There were even a few cards I had graded by PSA that I did extremely well. There were only 3 cards that I ever had come back trimmed. A year later, he STILL refunded my purchase no questions asked.

I have not bought from him in probably 3-4 years now. I can not say what its like buying from him now.
  • Only one experience for me, and it will be the only one. I purchased a lot of 1957 Topps baseball cards that were deemed to be "NM" condition. When I got the lot, there might have been 5% of the cards that were NM, but there were more than a few cards with creases and writing on the back. It was ridiculous. The lot wasn't slightly mis-graded. It was massively mis-graded.

To his credit, he provided a minimal hassle, no questions asked refund.

But when people say this guy mis-grades his cards, they are speaking the truth.

Has anyone had any recent purchases from triple play? I imaging it's probably the same deal as the comments previously mentioned in 2014. They come up a lot in my searches of vintage topps by lot. I'm thinking the 'stay away' advise probably still holds.

When I clicked on the link, I didn't see much recent activity and zero negs.

I did see some from a long time ago.

    One thing tho:

late ship, creases, bent corners and it read SHARP NRMT he still selling ??? b**b ( 1185Red star icon for feedback score in between 1,000 to 4,999) More than a year ago
1968 TOPPS BASEBALL SET (372/598) *SHARP
NRMT VERY CLEAN (#141985344306) US $295.00

if I'm interested in buying a 68T set (or near set) and the guy has Nrmt and it sells for $295? Ya gotta know something's wrong?

I've bought relatively few items from this seller, usually the last commons to complete a set or just to upgrade my worst of the worst. I've been extremely happy with all of those. The few semi stars and stars I've needed have been kind of hit or miss. Some are exactly as described, while others maybe have a wax residue or hairline crease or bubble that weren't detectable in the photos, so while not as nice as I was expecting, they were still better than what I had. While it may be considered a bit of bait and switch, the "super" deal turns into just a decent price for the actual card. I've never felt that I overpaid for the card that I received, and I've never returned anything. My complaint would be that if you're in a hurry to get your card(s), it often takes a week or more to get. I'm someone that's never in a hurry, but after awhile, even I start to get a bit anxious. I've always eventually received my items, though.

They have what appears to be some high grade sets and lots from the 50's-70's but then you see their feedback and it just didn't seem to be worth the headache.

The cards can be OK, but the interminable wait for them to be delivered isn't.

Thanks for the replies. I will definitely take a pass on their wares.
