Little info please.The 1817 CBH with single leaf variety is also known as the o-106a...am I right.....

    You are right. Both the 0-106 and 106a have the comet head obverse, but only the 106a has the single leaf reverse. In my opinion, the 106 is scarcer than most think, and the 106a is not as scarce as most think. I think the two varieties are closer is scarcity than most think. The single leaf is neat, but there are also some neat clashed examples of 106 just as desirable, you if are lucky enough to fine one.

    Lava pretty much covered it. AMBPR lists O.106 (with leaf variety) as R2 while O.106a (missing leaf) is R4, however I see neither variety more frequently than the other.

    Personally I would rate both as R3, but O.106a will still command a slight premium for intrigue.

    I need the new AMBPR to see if anything has changed as far as rarity goes, but Brian is right, they seem to both appear with an equal frequency. That being said, I don't see any 1817's appearing all that much. Therefore just getting a decent one is a great idea.
