<< <i>I feel the same about "The Catch", 1981 NFC championship game. I still remember my dad laughing as 49ers won. He always rooted against the Cowboys but that day I really wanted to pee in his cheerios. >>
I was 10 in a house full of 49ers fans that thought "this" was the year. I was jibberjabbin, a lot, and then the catch. The house turned. Adults dishing payback for my smack talk. I was in tears. That game taught me a lot about talking too much before a game ends and also started a long run of Niner dislike.
I also never liked Duke...and Laetner in particular. I hated the end of that game too...but nowhere near as crushing.
I guess it works the reverse way for me. I'm a Duke fan, and every time I see the clip of Gordon Hayward's buzzer-beater attempt at the end of the 2010 Duke/Butler championship game, I always get worried that the shot is going to go in this time and Duke is going to lose.
