1954 Topps Hockey pack on eBay

Has anyone seen the 1954 penny pack currently listed on eBay? I'd love to pull the trigger, but $3k seems really steep for this item, especially in a GAI holder. Can the unopened experts tell me if the seals on this pack look good? Wondering if it would make its way into a PSA holder?

Any thoughts on the last time a 54 penny pack was offered for sale? I've looked all over and can find record of anything but nickel pack sales from '54 hockey. Is it basically priced as if there isn't another out there?

    Michael, who knows?!?!?! Its hard to say--the seller is certainly reputable and sells alot of good (ie legit) vintage unopened at the national and on ebay but there are bad packs in these first generation gai holders although there are plenty of good ones too--and theres no bar code on the back of the gai flip although that doesnt necessarily mean anything as there are bad packs in first generation holders with bar codes on the flips and good packs in first generation holders that dont have bar codes on the flips. However, one cent packs are the easiest packs to "create": all you need is a nice wrapper, one nm-mt card and a period stick of gum.....


    edited to add: you might want to email tony and ask him if the gum is broken or intact, and if its intact, is it free-floating inside the pack or stuck to the card. If its the latter I would feel much more comfortable about its legitimacy than I would if the gum was in several pieces. Also ask him if there are any strange folds in the wrapper besides the ones that are supposed to be there (ie the ones around the card) or any rips or tears in the wrapper in odd places that there shouldnt be in an unopened pack (which cant be seen in the scans); if the pack is a legitimate unopened pack there shouldnt be any excessive folds or tears in strange places on the wrapper.

    Beautiful pack.

    I wouldn't want it unless it was in a PSA holder, just a personal preference. Bought a ton of 1979 OPC Hockey GAI packs circa 2004/05 and got burned baaad.

    Seen quite a few over the years but can't recall what they went for. Who knows, maybe this is the pack I've seen over and over again?
