Epic Week = New Focus for 2015

I've spent the last two years building the collection I dreamed of as a kid . A 3 sport pack run from early 70's -80's, 80's BB and FB box run, a couple basic player sets, and RCs of all my favorites across 4 sports.
It's come at a cost, but I did pretty well sticking to budgets along the way, by making little games pairing a budget and a goal. To a degree this kept me both focused and cost-conscious. Though I strayed plenty along the way when certain items became available.
The end of the year had me pretty much coming down to the whales. I expected them to be my focus for 2015, but...
This most recent week has been an epic one, with one card after another presenting itself with the right combo of look, price, and time.
It started innocently enough, taking advantage of a 10% offer coupled with some eBay bucks to land my Jerry West. This hadn't been an easy one to find for me. This one presents pretty nicely, though it does have a surface wrinkle in the upper left, but came at a good price after discounts.
Then, as shared in a previous thread, my employers acquisition was completed leaving me with some extra fun money, and the Mantle RC I had my eye on was available and negotiated off eBay.
Nearing completion of my 1st Ballot PW, I like to keep an eye on what's available in the cards I need. First check was Mays, and again previously shared, I found a fairly priced example coincide with 10% and 4x bucks and with the Mantle having just arrived, I couldn't pass it up.
Pretty sure that would have to be it for the year, I still look. Needing only the Jackie, I find one available through someone I'm familiar with through Net54...and he has a 57 Russell too. A couple emails later my last two whales were harpooned, largely putting to rest my major RC needs and allowing me to shift focus for 2015 to far more affordable endeavors.
2015 is now the year of organization for me. It's about getting sets into sheets/binders, and sorting out what stays and what goes from both recent rips/pops and the childhood collection. Ripping, sorting and subbing...and even some selling are now in line for 2015.
While there are still a few cards needed for Player sets, and a few RCs, most are quite available and affordable.
I'm looking forward to taking a break from spending and a much more active role in enjoying the items I have and getting organized.
This likely means I won't be over-sharing as much in the new year. Though with my birthday on the 31st, I do have a birthday rip scheduled with a menu including: 75 Topps mini cello with Winfield on back, 76 BK, 85 T,D,F, 85 FB and a Sportcaster pack as of now. I may add either a 90 Leaf S2 or 87D box to the rip as well. Stay tuned.
I realize some of these cards are previously shared, but not even the National compared to this week of buys for me, and I'm pretty over the moon that all of these as a whole came in on budget (+5%) and at a time when I could afford to make the leaps. No one else comprehends how I can spend that kind of money on tattered cardboard, but you do. So thanks for your continued support and happy holidays.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
