Recommendation for Raw Refractor Storage

I'm thinking about starting a collection of refractors but would like to keep them in the raw just due to the expense of holders. I've heard of using penny sleeve/top loader for storing these. Any other recommendations for storage that will give me the best visibility and protection against damages/scratches without having to pay for grading, etc... If you have an idea of the cost for your recommended storage method that would also be appreciated. Thanks. -Nate

If you are going to buy cheap refractors, the penny sleeve/top loader method is fine. If you are buying low numbered, SP refractors of future HOF'ers get them graded.

Penny sleeve in set boxes work fine for storage of cheaper refractors. Top-loaders/card savers are optional.

For visibility, nothing beats Ultra Pro 9-pockets in a binder.

That would be my take as well. The value point at which it becomes better to have them graded is fairly subjective, so it simply is a judgement call. Happy collecting image.

I agree. It's the way to go for viewing pleasure.

I also have some 4-pocket Ultro Pro pages which are nice for cards that are in card savers or top loaders.

For the past 15 years my collection has been in top loaders in boxes never to viewed easily. I want to see my cards so the 9 count pages work great for the cheaper cards (or in your case refractors.) It has been a long and expensive process but being able to see my collection is my goal.

I recommend that you do the binders.

I have to agree with what others have said, nothing beats being able to enjoy viewing my collection. I keep the vast majority of my collections in ultra pro pages in binders. I'm not sure if it's the nostalgia of collecting now the same way I did 30 years ago but I love sitting down with a binder and adding new cards to the missing spaces in my team sets and player collections.
