Packaging raw card lots for shipping

I'm shipping 50 raw cards that are worth about $20 total. Do you think it's OK to put some extra junk cards on each end and then put a rubber band (not tight) around them? Then some bubble wrap. Is there a better way?

+1, I cringe at just the sight of a rubber band around cards, whether it does any damage or not.

Not sure if it's cost effective, but I usually ship a lot of cards that size in a plastic card box with cheapo cards on either end so the box is slightly overfull, and then tape the box closed securely with packing tape. This completely immobilizes the cards, protecting the corners. I then ship the card box(es) in a shipping box surrounded by peanuts. Works great.

    Absolutely

I would put each card into a penny sleeve, then put them all in a team bag.
After that, put a Card Saver I on both sides since they are larger than the
card, and wrap a rubber band around them each way.

I would do this, but sub tape for rubber band

Put them all raw into a team bag (or two if necessary). I usually cut two pieces of cardboard that are slightly larger than the team bag, then use packing tape to sandwich them around the team bag. Then it goes into a padded mailer.

use team bag with a top loader on each side (outside of team bag) for sturdiness. easier than finding and cutting cardboard. then bubble mailer.

That's my method except I use a cotton ball instead of the cheapo cards.

I go with plastic card boxes and filler cards on the ends (87 Topps, 88 Donruss).

I'm not going to use a rubber band because it might tick off the buyer, but I'm confident that I could use one with some extra junk cards on each end without the cards being damaged any more (they're VG/EX). Kids used to use tight rubber bands without extra cards on the end.

When I said rubber bands. I only meant after you have put the cards
into penny sleeves, then a team bag, and *THEN* a Card Saver I on
both sides of the stack. That way when you put the rubber bands
around the Card Savers, they will not be anywhere near the actual cards.

I would NOT recommend using rubber bands around the cards themselves
even if you did use junk cards on either side.
