Estate sale in my area this weekend

In Ithaca Ny. Im most likely going. It looks nice from the pics. Lots of yankees and sports memorabilia. Says lots of baseball cards, autographed pics, a lot to list. I wish I had more money to bring. I'll try to bring as much as I can.

Get there early. If it's anything like my area there will be a couple of hundred folks in line at opening time.

    Looks like mostly crap.
  • It actually does look like mostly crap. I'm debating even going. It does say there are coa with a few of the autographs. But no one I'm too interested in. If I do go I probably can't compete with others who bring a few grand to these. The only thing I actually want is to get that yankees scoreboard clock cheap

Looking at the photos, while it appears to be a lot, it looks like a lot of things that arent worth that much. The only cards I saw look pinned/glued/stapled to the board it was on, so unless there is a couple of vintage Ruth cards, makes them worth next to nothing.

I'm guessing they cherrypicked anything of any real value and sent it to auction, and this is what they were left with.

It takes a lot of effort to compile that much worthless stuff.

One of the balls has a Dimaggio nameplate. Whether there's a signature is another story though (can't see in pic)

Looks like a bunch of stool.
  • Looking at the pic of the board with cards glued to it I see a T206 Cy Young Bare Hand, and a Roger Peckinpaugh CJ, 51 Bowman Whitey Ford etc....

If the cards aren't reprints, that thing is worth some coin. Given the rest of the stuff in the auction, that's a big "if" though.

Unless they've pictured everything I would go. You never know what may be unpictured/unlisted in the ads. Recently I went to an estate sale and picked up a sealed 2007 Topps Heritage baseball box (hobby) for $40. And many rookies-McGwire,Gwynn,Boggs, Griffey,Durant,Gary Carter,Posey for $1 each. Also Favre UD and Topps Rogers rookies. Also many older patch cards for $2 each. Had alot of fun searching through the 5000 count boxes. Also picked up some oddball stuff. If you score once out of 10 tries it's worth it,at least to me. I always go if the sale is close by.
