My recommendation is to start with these two. I think they're the template for how all others should be done.
They put the VA-M in VAM.
The VAM book itself, while not up to date, is highly recommended. In addition to pictures of everything up to 1992, it has a ton of good background information on both Morgan and Peace dollars. There are annual supplements to this book that keep it up to date.
Another good one is "Wonders of Morgan Dollars", self published by Leroy Van Allen. This is a sort of guide to a Morgan dollar variety type set. It explains how many of them came to be and shows good examples of each type, although it's not an attribution guide in and of itself.
