There are dozens of VAM attribution books, including many that focus on a single date. How well they work varies greatly.
My recommendation is to start with these two. I think they're the template for how all others should be done.

    Van Allen and Mallis.

They put the VA-M in VAM.

The two that Dennis recommends are both good, and there are many others for specific dates. There are also the "list" books, including the Top 100, Hot 50, and Hit List 40. These lists are all defined as PCGS registry sets as well.

The VAM book itself, while not up to date, is highly recommended. In addition to pictures of everything up to 1992, it has a ton of good background information on both Morgan and Peace dollars. There are annual supplements to this book that keep it up to date.

Another good one is "Wonders of Morgan Dollars", self published by Leroy Van Allen. This is a sort of guide to a Morgan dollar variety type set. It explains how many of them came to be and shows good examples of each type, although it's not an attribution guide in and of itself.

By all means if you have not yet bookmarked "vamworld.com" do so now.
