USPS opa locka

Is anyone else expecting any packages out of opa locka Florida? I have two packages from two different people sending me packages from there. Each of them say left opa locka on dec 3 at 5:13am. But nothing since then. Just wondering if anyone else is expecting anything from there as well. One of them is a gift to my secret Santa. In hoping they start moving again soon.

Most likely won't see an update until the package reaches your mailbox. No worries, happens all the time.

I ordered an item last month that was sent from elfers, Florida and I never got it. Not sure if they cross each others path.

I have found that for whatever reason packages coming from Florida typically take a bit longer to arrive. I wouldn't sweat it.

I have one coming from Texas that hasn't updated in 4 days. I think they get lazy about scanning packages this time of year. Give it a few more days.
  • I'll give it til mid week next week before I really begin to worry. I've had packages not update too for a while then they get moving again so ill keep my fingers crossed that I'll get them soon. They both still say expected delivery date of Friday dec 5. They are coming from Florida up to central NY

  • Just read a few forum posts from other forums about that and I guess opa locka is notorious for packages sitting there for 4-6 days before moving. Just hoping they arrive soon for me to ship it on out again to my secret Santa.

Thats been my experience. For whatever reason a disproportionate number of my ebay items come from whatever part of Florida USPS moves through Opa Locka. And theres always around a 4 day delay...packages from there have tended to take about 6-7 business days to arrive to me in California while packages from other parts of Florida seem to arrive in 3-4 business days.

It seems that distribution center has the same issues as one of the Los Angeles where packages sit for 3+ business days for no reason. Really terrible reviews if you google the USPS facilities for Bell(the one in Los Angeles) or for Opa Locka.

BTW, sounds like a really interesting neighborhood if you look up the Opa Locka entry in wikipedia.

Is there any hope for my item to arrive still? Shipped on November 18th, still says "in transit".
  • I guess coming here and complaining about it does something lol, one of the two just arrived at the rochester sorting facility. So should have it Monday. This is the secret Santa package. Now hoping my other one gets scanned in rochester soon.

the distribution centers process packages only as fast as the humans can move them. because they are hubs, everything in the region travels through.

i've had plenty of forehead slapping moments tracking my packages through L.A./Bell Gardens, too. but, somehow they make it with the additional 2 or 3 days of lag time.

during the holiday season, the increase of online gifting dooms us to waiting longer for our little cardboards. so it goes.

We have had some problems here getting mail. I have had my packages delivered to the wrong house, been getting some of our neighbors mail, and had a tracking number say they left a notice, but nothing in the mailbox. When I went to the post office to complain, I was told right now they have a lot of seasonal workers for the holidays and some of them just don't care about doing things right. That may explain why others are having similar problems.
