Post a picture of the card you wish you had back

There are many cards that I have sold in the past that I wish I could have kept. I have my collection, which is very focused. I am a Cardinals team set collector, a Topps regular set collector, and a Cardinals autograph collector. After that, everything is pretty much for sale. There are some things that stand out, though, that I wish I could have kept. Almost every time I sold something, though, it was because I just could not afford to keep it.

What are some cards that you have sold in the past that you wish you had back?

The first one that stands out in my mind is this beauty! I had it authenticated myself back in 2007. I think I sold it in 2007 for around $400.

Fortunately for me, I have only made 3 card sales ever. And it's because I know I would regret almost any sale. I'm always attached to my collectibles.

No pic but I wish I never sold my 1934 Goudey Hank Greenberg card. It was the first card I ever got graded by PSA and I was disappointed it came back a 5.

I have never regretted buying a card or a collection, but I have regretted selling. As you said, Shane, sometimes we have to move some cards so that we can keep the money flowing. I guess one of my biggest regrets was selling all the 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth low grade cards that I would buy at shows in St. Louis for $150-250 and then sell when I got back to Kentucky for $300-500. I probably did that 6-8 times. I know that was years ago when prices were lower, but wish I had them all back.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

The overall list is too extensive for me to post here, but a few I have owned come to mind.

    1934 Goudey Gehrig
    1948 Leaf Joe DiMaggio (Autographed)
    1956 Topps Mantle
    1955 Koufax
    1963 Rose
    1968 Ryan

and the list goes on.......what makes it even more sad for me is I owned most of the cards before the days of E-bay and PSA, so I feel like I almost gave them compared to today's prices.

I could post hundreds that I was sorry to let go.

Here's a couple for example that I miss.

    Jay,

That 57 Aaron made my eyes drool. Awesome centering, and great clear picture.

Big one for me is a 1979 Topps Gretzky Rookie, PSA 6 CERT# 30939110. It was a card that my dad bought me raw at the Gibralter show in Detroit Michigan. I sold it because I really needed the money at the time. Really the only card that hurts. I keep it in my search and have browsed every day for a few years to get it back. Hopefully it surfaces again and wasn't cracked out.

Second is an Yzerman 1984 OPC PSA 9 CERT# 30939111 that I bought from the same show for about $5. Thought it was a lot at the time, and held onto it for years. Subbed it with the Gretzky in 2004.

One that I don't really regret selling, but would buy back if it ever surfaced, is the 1979 Gretzky OPC PSA 9 that I used to own. I'd also pickup Frozencaribou's PSA 9 Gretzky OPC if he'd ever part with it image

Can definitely think of several cards I wish I had back, and back around early 2000-2001 I sold most of my collection due to a decreased interest in collecting for various reasons. One card in particular that I sold is the example in the attached photo - please note any wrinkles or creases you see are not the card but the photocopy of the card that I still have. Back in those days there were no IPhones or scanners, so you had to make a photocopy on your printer which I did for several of my high end cards - 54 Williams and '55 Williams both of which I had 2-3 PSA 8's, 56 Mantle, 54 Aaron...

The '53 Mantle I picked up and paid a fair price for it and sold it for what was then an amazing price. Little did I know how much that card would jump 10-12 years later. I think my card speaks for itself in regards to corners, centering, and the very difficult lower red corner.

I don't have a pic of the exact card but mine would be a T202 Cobb/Jennings that I saved my money for week after week of working odd jobs as a young teenager to buy back in the 80's. A local dealer had it and I paid around $20 a week for it for a total purchase price of $200 if I remember correctly. It was fairly nice and I sold it for a few times that a few years later and wasted the money taking out my "steady" at the time. Shoulda kept the card lol

Is that dempsey really from 1921? Great card!
Scans of most of my Misc rookies can be found <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://forums.collectors.com/m...y&keyword1=Non%20major">here

No. I believe our best guest for the set was in the 1923 range. No one knows for sure. I put 1923 on the PSA sub form and for some reason they changed it to 1921. There's only a handful of the white borders known to exist (they could be a part of the more common, but still rare, black border set) but there's absolutely no evidence that would suggest a 1921 release date. Moot point though. The toughest and most desirable Dempseys aren't his earliest releases. Same could be said for any pre-war boxer though.

There are many cards I'd like to have back. Sometimes I start to get misty-eyed but then I remember there's no crying in baseball so I suck it up. Lol.

In seriousness, here is one I'd like to have back from my Bo Jackson collection.

I kept some of my Hagen cards when I sold my collection, but this one I really should have kept.

Wow. One of my favorite golf sets (even though there's no Jones). I started it in PSA 5+ some years back but never really got close. Don't think I've ever even seen a PSA 9 from the set before.

Still would love to have this one back...

    image

Sold it and it ended up with the pedigree and made me nauseous when it sold...

    image

Another, although the price has plummeted, would be the 1994 ARod SP SGC 100... Can't find an image of that one. Too many years and hard drives ago.

I've sold off many cards, especially in the past year, but this is the one I regret the most (sold a few years ago)...

I sold a beautiful 1962 Psa 8 Hank Aaron card many years ago. I lost the scan too.

Wish I had that one back.

I don't know the nuances of that particular card but to my eye its looks near perfect. What a great card, can't imagine there are many better.

The 57 Aaron in this thread is also unreal.

I wonder what this thread would look like if the letter 'd' were deleted from its title?

Kinda wish I had kept this one. At the time, I got a great price for it, but it's probably worth just a bit more now. image
