Why is Leaf included in Basic Sets, but not OPC?

They should be. I have seven OPC issues in my basic set.

In my opinion, neither should be in the basic and both should be in the master. But that's semantics, since I'm a master set collector anyway.

Why shouldn't Leaf or OPC be in the basic? I can maybe understand OPC because it's a close match to the regular Topps issue, but Leaf is a separate company with often very different designs, especially in later years. Same with OPC, come to think of it.

IMHO, Leaf 1990 and newer and OPC (ignoring Premeire) 1993 and newer should be in Basic sets. Any Canadian-only issues should be left for Master.

I was looking at the Tony Gwynn basic and it has 86-88 Leaf, but no OPC. Thought it was odd.

The basic companies, in my opinion, are Topps, Donruss, Fleer, and later Score and Upper Deck. Just my opinion. And frankly it's not that important to me, so I defer to those for whom it is.

To be clear, I'm talking about pre-1990 baseball, like the Gwynn registry. More recent years, or other sports, are totally different.
