  • What is the weight of the coin? Based one the weight it could be a Trambiyo or Dokdo of Nawanagar Princely State of India. The Dokdo varies in weight from 7-9 grams. The Trambiyo should weight between 3-4 grams. The coin is dated AH(9)78 which is a frozen date on these coins. On your coin I can only see the 7.

    Dokdo KM-2

8.1 grams on the digi. "frozen date" meaning the date wouldn't necessarily correlate to the year issued ? thank you for the info, ive had this for a while now and always wondered what it was, even contacted a few dealers in ancients and they seemed to know less than I did about it, peace, you know your ancients !

Yes. The frozen date does not necessarily co-relate to the year issued. I would not call these coins ancients. The coins were stuck for a long period of time from 1570 to 1850 with the actual script getting degenerated over a period of time. There are also a lot of contemporary counterfeits of this type.
