Likelihood this BGS 9.5 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie Crosses Over to be a PSA 10? Opinions R

Thoughts? PSA crossover likely yield a 10 or is centering not good enough? Please provide your inputs. Thank you for your opinions. Meatloaf

I think the centering is strong enough for a 10 but I think that right edge keeps it a 9. It is worth a shot with a review but I think it is an unlikely cross. I would not risk cracking it and subbing though as I just don't think the risk/reward ratio is there.

    I agree with slum22.

All kidding aside, it seems that any non-PSA graded card that's not a 10.5 won't cross to a PSA 10.

I think you can get cards from other TPG's to cross to PSA 10's. However, I also think there can be some politicking when it comes to any company reviewing a card from another TPG whether BGS to PSA, SGC to BGS, etc. I think your best bet if you believe a card is a legitimate cross is to just crack the card and send it in as a raw card vs. a review in the other TPG case. In this particular case, I think the card is beautiful and in the right grade for BGS. PSA does not do 9.5's. I think it is a fairly high end 9 but an unlikely 10. PSA tends to have forgiveness for rough cuts but not for chipped edges, especially from this set from my subbing experience. I would leave the card in the holder it is in as I think it carries maximum value for what it is, a 9.5. A BGS 9.5 is more valuable than a PSA 9 (even a high end one).

That's funny! Seems to be the general consensus around here.

I think it may have a chance at a 10. Centering looks solid. Whatever you decide to do, post it! I'd be curious to see if it crosses over.
  • I have seen a good deal of PSA 10's centered no better than this one. The right side chipping, and 3 of the corners showing a bit too much white prevent it from crossing to a PSA 10, in my opinion. BGS graded this card tougher in the past. In my opinion, they were more strict than PSA at the time. Since then it appears that PSA tightened their grading standards and Beckett's has softened.
