Jeter auto help

Hi all. Have the opportunity to get my first jeter autograph. Comes with a Steiner coa. Does this one look good to you guys? I'm not a jeter auto expert. From the ones I've seen and compared to recent sigs, it looks pretty good. Thanks in advance.

I'm far from an expert, but this one doesn't look good even to me

Let me tell you how this is gonna go. Even if you have video of Jeter signing this item, MinorLeagueSource is going to chime in and tell you it's a forgery. But don't take it personally. After all, he always signs his posts with "best regards."

Edited to add: if he purchased it from Steiner then it's good. If you or somebody else purchased it from Steiner, the COA means nothing.

With that said, maybe this is a fake. But either way, no matter how perfect, MLS would call it a fake.
  • Thanks for that info. Yes it does come with the Steiner coa. It was a send in to Steiner that was signed and sent back, with the Steiner coa card. If I get it, I'd be getting it for my personal collection that I plan on not selling. With the Steiner coa, I'll just believe it's real. i really liked the blue ink on the 2013 Topps card.

I'm sure the board would like to help, but unfortunately there aren't any Jeter auto experts here. Best of luck!

Slinky used to look like that after a few trips up and down the stairwell.

I took a look at the "Farewell Jeter" article in the November SMR issue (cover story) and after looking at recent examples of Jeter's signature, the one the OP shared compares favorably (I think part of the problem may be the space that Jeter had to sign being that it's a card is a tad compressed as opposed to a ball or bat).

Is there a photo/scan of the COA? I'm curious if that's been forged.
  • The auto wouldn't pass 3rd party authentication unless you sent it to Gai.

I had over 50 Jeter cards signed through Steiner close to 20k. I have a good idea what a Steiner auto looks like.

    Best regards!

  • I'll do a scan of it and the coa card when it gets here, probably Friday. I'll just put it next to my Mariano Rivera ball. I Don't have plans to sell it. I'll display the card and the Steiner coa next to the ball and believe it's the real deal. For the amount I paid, it's not going to break my bank account if it's fake. I've also compared this to other steiners and it's pretty damn close.
