I hadn't forgotten about German States coins, just had not been able to find anything lately to add to the collection. This is a 1796 I.E.C. 1/3 Taler, although low catalog values they are very tough to find in uncirculated, this being the only one graded ATS. IEC is Dresden mint, Johann Ernst Croll mintmaster.
Elector Frederick Augustus III (Friedrich August III) of Saxony (1763–1806), he became King of Saxony in 1806 and Duke Frederick Augustus I of Warsaw (1807–1813). A pretty poor ruler in my mind, he tried to play politics, signing a treaty with Bonaparte while also trying to stay friendly with the Prussia/Russia alliance. It all came to naught though and when released from captivity by the alliance he wound up giving up over 1/2 of Saxony and all of the Duchy of Warsaw.
