Anyone know if PCGS keeps records of coins that have been through restoration service?

And if so could can you call customer service and ask if a PCGS coin has been through it. Question #2, can corrosion be neutralized but still leave a black residue that looks like a small area of chimney sutt? but not active corrosion. In other words has anyone used the restoration service for corrosion and received the coin back and it was much better and the corrosion neutralized but still had some black area on the coin. I hope that wasn't to confusing, Thanks.

I do not, and even if they did, I doubt they would share that information.

  • PCGS will not share whether they have altered any coins they handle, I have called and asked.

If you had such coins would you tell any one it was Restored? image

I'm certain they keep and track the information. Otherwise they'd be unable to know if the service is a money-maker or a money-loser for them. Give it out? Not likely.

    I'm sure they do.

You could ask but you won't get an answer.

    Yes. It's spelled "soot".

I'd guess so. But no personal experience.

Here is one I tried and if you look close on the reverse eagle left wing your right, you will see a circle spot, even after restoration if you look closely you can see a Faint Circle. I was happy with the service the coin did not upgrade. I do think it took away some of the luster but again was much better than before...

Yeah but hasn't it technically been cleaned? image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Quadruplicate - You'd think I'd learn that all is not what it seems on the forums lately.

That is a terrible lack of transparency.

I find it pretty ironic they brought a lawsuit against coin doctors but refuse to tell their consumers if they themselves have worked on a coin.
