My bad. I remember one in a Mile High late 2013 but it was a GAI 8 after looking it up. I do remember not too long ago this card going for that much. I know the last PSA 9 that I saw was a little over $270k. Wonder what it would go for now.
This is one of the best auctions I've ever seen, with both a Wagner and the infamous Boston Garter Shoeless Joe alongside that nice Mantle-- add in a Plank and Magie for good measure LOL.
The Shoeless Joe BG card just blows me away. One of my dream pieces. A literal handful of those on the planet, in any state.
I believe the last couple of 8's off the top of my head went for $190 and $200k this summer. This card is really hot in all grades, and well centered ones have done very well this year along with Aaron and Clemente rookies.
To put the Boston Garter Joe Jackson in perspective, there are only two recorded sales ever on VCP.
An SGC 5.5 sold for $204,000 in 2007.
An SGC AUTH sold for $86,000 in 2008.
Any playing days Shoeless Joe is a fascinating and special piece for a baseball card collection; heck, even the hugely popular CJ ('15 or '14) and the e90-1 RC don't surface with any real regularity, let alone with decent eye appeal. I remember the last '15 CJ from Just Collect on eBay was basically black on front and still had spirited bidding. The Boston Garter is right up there alongside the illustrious T210 Old Mill icon-- which is just about as badass looking a baseball card as they come, with that cool jacket he's rocking and the red borders. Cards like that are at the height of true rarity plus extreme demand, as opposed to mere condition rarity.
I know a guy who has an SGC 1.5 I believe. I was at a gathering a few years ago and someone asked me about how my collection was going and he quickly piped in that he collects too and whipped out his phone and said check this out.
After the event I came home and did some research and sure enough it was a six figure card like he said.
SGC had him fly to New Jersey to have it graded. It was found in a box of cards that his father bought for $40.

Thanks for the intro. I love seeing new cool cards, and one of this rarity is a bonus. They do good write ups.
