Will PCGS slab and just say "Genuine" on front?

Hi all,

Just checking, if I submit a coin that will only gennie to PCGS, will they be willing to label the front "Genuine" only? Without any details described on the front (such as "damaged", etc)?

I have seen many coins in slabs with only the "Genuine" label, but I don't know if that was old, or if they will still do that. And what do I request if want it done that way?

.....I'm new to submitting, so thanks for any info!

( editted for spelling!)

......I collect old stuff......

On the submission form there are three check box options:

Genuine Service: [ ] Genuine with Details (Default) [ ] Genuine No Details [ ] Do Not Holder Genuine

PCGS will do whatever you select (or the default if you don't select any)

I don't think this answers the question. "Genuine - XF Details" is different than "Genuine - XF Details - Scratched". You can always look up the code on the label, but some labels actually spell it out too.

If the problem is a scratch on an XF coin, let's say, the options PCGS provides are either "PCGS Genuine, Scratched" or "PCGS Genuine, Scratched XF details" (the latter is the default).

I don't believe "Genuine" alone is possible, though you might call and ask. As OriginalDan points out, even if PCGS allows it the cert# will still include ".95". There's no way to hide the reason for the BB.

The Genuine Only Labels are obsolete now that they changed the program. Those were only for rarity's and cost $100.00 each.

I've often wondered in regard to coin and sports cards submissions, if it would be better to have the TPG's just designate the item submitted just genuine. And let the seller/buyer hash out what the grade is. In many cases this is done anyways despite a #ed assigned grade. The oft used phrase "buy the coin/card not the holder" is what many do anyways, and some not. I wonder if the TPG's were to offer 1/2 price off on submissions, whereby you only requested a genuine designation,if this would help or hinder a more agreeable transaction. I understand this scenario is highly unlikely as it would detract from said company profits, but one I personally would not object to as an option offered by the TPG's. To me once an item is deemed genuine, I the seller/buyer would like to determine if the grade/appeal is what I deem as acceptable for my needs. As it's always been, grading still seems to be a subjective area.

It's nice that PCGS Genuine is accepted as part of the hobby now with details grades as well.

As mentioned, in the early days the inserts just said "Genuine" but now they have details on them.
