I know rim damage is pretty bad not going to but would it stop it from grading?

<< <i>I wouldn't bet the farm that it would grade but it's possible. I sent in a liberty seated dollar about 4 months ago with rim damage about like that and it straight graded. I was a little surprised. >>
Doesn't sound like good odds to me. Sell it raw and move on.

– The age of the coin goes up.
– The grade of the coin goes down.
– The rarity of the coin goes up.
– The severity of the damage goes down.
– The originality of the surfaces goes up.
You also have a better chance if the damage is on the reverse.
The bottom line is that plenty of coins with some degree of rim damage do get into holders, but I'd hate to try to make a living predicting which ones will or won't.
