I want to say O.106 but there are other possibilities.

    It's just too far gone.

    Wow. What a dog.

    I'd guess O.110.

Yeah, that was my 'other possibility' image

But I thought the 'C' in 50C looked too small. I only checked about half of the DM's so there may be others that are even more similar.

CoinZip, what do you think it is? You might see more detail in hand. Either way, there aren't any rare DM's for this date so there isn't much use in attributing it.

    Contemporary counterfeit?
  • CoinZipCoinZip Posts: 3,253 ✭✭✭

I bought the coin just to try to test myself, I thought for sure I could ID it given enough time ........ But now I'm not so sure I can image

There is no lettering on the edge, the stars on the right and date are almost gone, yet the portrait still has a lot of detail in comparison.

edited to add: I just did the ring test and its a dud, it does not ring like other Busties..... image

Just what I was getting ready to post !
Although it could be legit...but I rarely bother attributing anything past 1820 personally ...image

Oh man, jayPem, you're really missing out. There are lots of goodies to be found in the late 20's and 30's Busties. image

Personally, I think the coin is real - just environmentally damaged, heavily. My guess is it was a metal detector find.
