I'm not an expert on this card or flips....but a quick google turned up this Link
  • I'm not sure about the font. If it's legit (and my gut reaction is no, it is not), this card was graded a hell of a long time ago.

This guy only has seven feedback as a seller, and two of them are negative. And they're the two most recent ones. I think you'd really have to be feeling lucky to throw in a bid on this.

I'm thinking it's one of the old counterfeit WIWAG slabs. No way it gets an 8 with that wax stain on back.

    davis,

yeah, I see that previous auction and good work. however, nowadays all the auction houses basically state that "the relieve themselves of the burden of proof and rely solely on the 3rd party graders opinion". problem is though, I honestly don't think this is the intended 3rd party's opinion. instead, someone in chinas.

that wax stain is a dead tale-tell and I didn't even see that in the ebay auction. I was primarily going off the font...and quick listing/feedback rating.

ive been wrong before, but no way it would get an 8, imo

The wax stains look exactly the same, but somehow the right border got roughed up in the couple years between the AH and eBay?

Flip to me looks fake and doesn't match anything I've ever seen. Stay away.

Back scan on eBay is just stolen from prior auction, while the front scan is new and of a different card? I've noticed so many of these eBay scams use different scans for the front and back of the card (the scammers are either that lazy or that dumb or most likely both).

very true. my eyes went straight to the flip as well. the "boldness", spacing and even the dotting in the font all just seemed off.

sucks b/c I need an 8+ for my basic mantle set, but this sure aint gonna be her.
  • Obvious fake card look at the sellers negative feedback on his few sales.
  • Looks like a scam, but I suspect the scan and whatever the seller plans to mail the winner may be completely different. It could be that the image he chose to lift happens to be suspicious, but his intent was probably to provide an image that wouldn't draw suspicion.

I actually think the seller posted different pictures than the auction of both the front and back. The old auction photos were cropped smaller and I don't think he could recreate the edge of PSA case for his ebay images. I think it's the same card and case that was auctioned in 2010.

Whether the card is legit or not...that's another debate.

I think it is the same card. Does anyone ever message the person selling the item and tell them that their card is being discussed on the PSA message boards? Maybe the person will answer any concerns people might have.

Would psa do anything if this was brought to their attention? If it's an obvious fake, wouldn't they contact ebay or whatever auction house the card is being sold through and let them know about it?

coin flip. every day i'm surprised. both in good ways and sometimes not so good ways.

they are a brand and it seems by now they would have a brand protection department
that would not only be on the look out for items such as these but also track down the
people selling them, execute the origins and help prosecute.

but that's just the way I do business.
