Sassanian Drachm

In another long anticipated first, I picked up my first Sassanian coin to add to the ancient kingdom collection. There are some relatively minor deposits on the obverse, but I got this coin at a great price, far below what most others sell these for and in better overall condition. I'm happy.
Again, you know the drill, my pictures are terrible.
Hormizd IV Obverse
Hormizd IV Reverse
These are really interesting coins and I am reading more about them as the info comes my way via the internet. If anyone has read any standard references, please let me know.

Nice: Yeah, they aren't that heavily collected I think. I see most ancient dealers have them at the foreign shows that I attend but usually they are in a pile, bag, or lot situation and they are offered as a pick one for a set price. That is fine, but then when I see them being offered for $70 as interchangeable items, I think I can do better on my own, which in my opinion I did. The deposits on the upper obverse left aren't so deep or bad to destroy the coin or the eye appeal and frankly, it's 1500 years old, so who cares.
Excellent resource for ancients, incl. ancient Persia
And of course I also included a pic of my Khusro II
