How can I tell what series a 1972 Topps Unopened is?

Rookie question, but I have a 72 Topps BB Unopened and I can't tell what series it is at first glance. What am I not seeing?

Welcome aboard. The only way to tell is if you can identify the card showing on the top or bottom of the pack. If you can, you can cross reference that to the card number and determine the series from there. Unless you have the original wax box and it has the series sticker on it, I don't think there's a definitive way to tell the series. Some years/series can be determined if they have a special offer or insert ('72s didn't contain inserts) that were unique to a specific series.
