Up for sale is a nice circulated 1866 Seated dollar that I have owned since 1997, which has a well-disguised problem. Coin has VF35 details on the obverse and XF40 on the reverse. Patina is a nice, even gray color. There is an absence of rim nicks, bag marks, and dings. The eye appeal overall is really quite nice for a circ. Seated Dollar. However, tilting the coin at an angle under a lamp reveals some old graffiti that is toned over and partly worn off. These well-hidden squiggles are all but invisible when the coin is viewed face-on. The pictures are a pretty accurate indication of the coin's appearance. This coin would be ideal for a Dansco or other album for a collector who wants detail and eye appeal, but does not wish to crack a coin out of a slab. Make an offer via PM.

I have no idea what this coin is worth but the description in such an open and forthright manner must be worth something all by itself....I cartainly found it refreshing
