Do you play the sport you collect?

I moved a couple years ago and there's no hockey where I now live.
Hardly anyone even knows what it is, that's how bad it is here.
Having played hockey for over 20 years of my life, it kills me to be away from it.
I have a beautiful, loving fiance and son and moving is not an option for us, since it's important for her to be near her parents and family. In no way to I resent her for it, her family is the best, treats my son fantastic and she's a great mother.
But, without playing hockey, I have this emptiness that's hard to explain, and for her to understand. The nearest rink is close to two hours away, and I'd make the drive, but it conflicts with my work schedules, until I find a teaching (day) job.
I've thought about getting into softball or baseball here, but don't think it'll be the same. I struck out in T-Ball and peed my pants in the outfield.
Looking into paving part of the property to shoot some pucks, solo. Anything for a fix.
Anyways, do you play the sport you collect?

That was a fun read - very nice.
When I was at Columbia - a dental school friend of mine played "club" hockey - they played in the middle of the night to afford the rink fees.
I couldn't make varsity BB in high school - so gave it up. Did play league softball in the Army up to my mid 40s - just got tired of pulling "something."
As you know Steve aka Winpitcher still plays - and he's old! He's my hero!!!
Retired from basketball when I couldn't dunk anymore.
Still play baseball - having labrum surgery in December.
We're the Naperville Yankees , if your in Chicago area and want to play, look us up on the web.

All of those have been true for since I was a kid and I am 42.
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
There is no way I would ever live anywhere where I couldn't play hockey regularly. Not a chance. I'm going to be buried in my skates, I swear. It doesn't have to be the NHL to be fun. Thanks for sharing.

Collect Hockey...Can't Skate

Watching Lex Luger bounce his pecs made me want to workout and that has been my main physical activity since I was 13.
I played baseball from 5 until I was 16 and opted out of high school summer ball that year to go to New York to model before I started 11th grade and never played again.
Bruce in GA - Is that the league you play in, as well?

Did you move to Sunrise, FL?
+1, but moved up to the older man league.
Currently collecting 1934 Butterfinger, 1969 Nabisco, 1991 Topps Desert Shield (in PSA 9 or 10), and 1990 Donruss Learning Series (in PSA 10).
I play on two teams - one small sided (6v6) and one full field team (11v11).
I'm 37, so I've cut out my third team - 11v11 co-ed.
Only an idiot would have a message board signature.

No, I play senior softball. I do have a couple teammates that played MSLB but I thought their world series was in Ft Myers, Fl.

However, many of the good buddies I play hockey with and against get together twice a week at lunch time at a local park for some street hockey. We play with the small street hockey nets and the orange no-bounce ball (mail order). I know it's not the same but you might want to think about maybe finding a few kindred souls to get together once a week or so. Who knows, you might start a trend. For me it's not quite the same but it does keep the skills sharp and it's good exercise.
Heck, if they can get an NHL team in Sunrise FL anything is possible.
Cheers,

<< <i>I have played baseball every summer since I was seven and found a league to play in here in Daegu, Korea. (I collect Mattingly/Buehrle).
