October RC Pickups

October was a good month for filling some of the last few HOF RC holes...but a bit over budget, which will effect Nov/Dec spend. But very happy to add these.

Been looking for the right Frank and Brooks for some time but could never find right one at right price. Frank came in a great deal from cpettimd who always has great cards available and is great to work with. Then right at month end eBay gives me a save 10% for 24 hrs deal. All of a sudden This Brooks became a good deal...and I got my eBay bucks at the listed price.

I've previously posted the Carew which came at a good price from Deans. It's gorgeous. It's got a few little dimples on the surface effecting it's grade, but they're hardly detectable. However, once I had it, I really wanted a Seaver too. Got this with a reasonable BO. It's got the tilt that I was trying to avoid, but I'm happy with it...for now. Not a priority at all, but wouldn't mind a visual upgrade regardless of grade.

And a pair of 70s cards, which while I own raw, they're not centered enough for my graded collection, but would work nice in sets, so I went ahead and picked up these, which I think present well and came at friendly prices. I'm pretty happy with Winfield in particular. Half the price of an 8 and I think it looks better than most that I looked at over the past few months.

Finally, gotta give a little Dodger love to my man and the manager of my childhood...Tommy Lasorda.

Really liked reading the back of the card. Got a chuckle out of 6' 200lbs. being so intimidating, considering the size of players today. Also liked that he faked, sidestepped and tripped the guy. Oh ya...and 25 Ks in a 15 inning win...that's pretty sick.

Thanks for reading

Very nice cards there, Jim. This is right in my wheelhouse of 50's - mid-70's. Couple of '67's that have been on my want list for awhile too!

Wow! Those are very nice. The Brooks and Frank Robinson cards are great looking and that Carew definitely looks better than a PSA 5. Well done Jim.

That's some fantastic cardboard! The photos of the 67s need to be rotated to fully appreciate though image

LOL...the few I need aren't as easy to find. Anyone with a fairly priced 66 Howley or 72 Rayfield Wright should by all means reach out.

    Jim,

Those are some great cards. All of them are on a checklist for my collection as well (minus the Lasorda since I am a Giants fan). Great centering on most of those cards make them all high end for their grades. Congratulations!
