72 Puerto Rican Schmidt Sticker?

I wanted to ask opinions on what everyone thinks about this issue? I own a beautiful 73 Topps Schmidt PSA 9, and have been looking for a high grade of this, as well as an OPC PSA 9.

I know this sticker is rare, and tough to come by in a high grade. But have heard some say don't waste your money on a sticker, and some say the opposite.

Thanks for any input.

Jamie

If you're a serious Mike Schmidt collector, which it sounds like you are, then it'd be a cool item to add to your collection. Pre-RCs may not be big with all collectors, but a lot of us like 'em. Good luck tracking down the sticker.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I agree with Andy -- if you like it, buy it -- it's your collection and not a waste of money.

Collectors have different preferences. Personally, I don't like the 1973 issue (not a fan of multi-player cards), which is why Schmidt's 1974 issue sits in my HOF collection.

    To each his own.

It is a cool card, but I have always put it in the category fo the Berk Ross Mantle. Should be worth more, but collectors just don't seem to like it for some reason. As a Schmidt collectable very cool and really would be a must have. Will it ever catch on with collectors. Maybe, but not likely

    Jamie,

I agree with what has already been said. If it is something that you really like and it's for your personal collection .... BUY IT!
    Good luck with your search.

This one sold in a Goodwin Auction 2 years ago for just short of $13,000.00.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • Thanks for the input guys. Appreciate it.

    Looking for Vintage Rookies.
  • Hi Jamie
I own the #2 ranked Schmidt Basic Topps. I have it displayed in a beautuful case on the wall in my office. A few months ago I picked up a raw 1972 Pueto Rican Schmidt. I sent it to PSA and it can back as PSA 1 poor. But, even tho it's not a Topps and it doesn't belong to the Schmidt Topps Basic, I put it right in that display case next to my 1973 PSA 9 RC.

It has actually become a good conversation piece. People are more interested in that sticker than the PSA 9 RC.

If you like it, buy it!

    Cheers!
