A couple of weeks ago there was a thread discussing the Hank Aaron rookie out on Ebay that sold through PWCC. This discussion led to others showing off their Hank Aaron rookie cards (actually it was a scan of one that belonged to a friend of his). None the less, the Hank was the last card that I needed to complete the 1954 Topps set in PSA 8 or above. I really wanted to find a high end example of Hank instead of buying the label. Rich (Cardbender) got me this card to finish off the set. So I wanted to say thanks to Rich for the help and making this happen. A great guy to know in the hobby!!
Thanks again Rich.
Thanks again Rich.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
I know during the past couple of months that it has been a big help to myself and my youngest son who enjoys collecting the old stuff - he is really into Mantle, Aaron, Mays, Bench.... and that is saying a lot for a 9 year old. He really looks forward to seeing what shows up in the mail or via UPS, and has been a great distraction. Our oldest son use to go to the National with me and just got back into collecting the past year or so after he got married. The neat thing is he still kept a lot of the cards he had as a kid. He was going to possibly go with us this year to the National since his wife and 3 year old were heading to Disney, but ended up breaking his leg in an accident and could not make it. We brought him back a bunch of boxes of 1987 Topps and UD Golf from back when he collected so he had a lot of boxes to rip open while he was on the mend. Little did we know that a simple broken leg would turn tragic as he developed an infection unknown to the doctors in the leg, and the pain in his leg masked a condition called Sepsis which over the course of a month worsened to the point he went into shock and organ failure and ultimately passed away.
I don't bring this up to bring everyone down, but rather to show what an uplifting thing collecting can be. I have met several board members through emails and transactions who have been very generous with their time and their collections, and none of them had any idea what we were dealing with as a family. I have been able to take care of my loved ones during this time because of the joy I have gained with collecting - might call it a distraction While nothing can take away from a tragedy in life having things to look forward to and anticipate makes the next day a lot better. I have tried to use this experience to appreciate things even more and learned to not wait to enjoy the things you want - providing you don't need debt counseling after your next purchase.
To those of you that I have done transactions with and who have helped us out without even knowing we just wanted to say thank you and appreciate all of the help you have provided. Hopefully we can thank some of you in person at a show in the next year or so! While I would like to think my collection is getting a little bigger my 9 year old is the real beneficiary - just need to teach him what a budget is!
