    Thanks for the question.

    The look that you are observing where the fields are dark and the protected areas light is a natural toning pattern of original gold with layers of patina in the fields and luster visible in protected areas. It is very uncommon in the market as most natural piece have been destroyed and those that survive are locked away.

    Thanks for the good answer! You have inspired me to own some more original gold- most of mine branch mint gold is bright yellow. I will look for more original coins in the buy, sell, trade forum!
