When is a Doily not a Doily?

Here perhaps? I guess that's one way of getting the word "Doily" in your listing title.image

That seller has been keyword spamming the search results for "doily" for awhile now... should be reported. Unfortunately the results for that search are already cluttered with the new retro doily releases of modern silver eagles... but at least those actually have doily labels of a sort.

    Yeah, I've noticed that too.

As far as I can tell ebay does nothing about keyword spamming reports.

I see nothing wrong with this listing title. It's a subclass of OGH, several people know the Doilys and know about the two piece construction, and would understand what the seller means. Spamming would be if the lister just put Doily in their title, but I think it's clear what he means when he says "Transition Holder Like Doily Style Slab."

Keyword spamming pure and simple. He's been doing it for quite a while.

That slab type isn't a doily, isn't a transitional near a doily, and has nothing to do with the doily slab. It's a plain-jane 2.0 per the conder generations. 2.5 would be a transitional (same slab, slightly different insert) >>

What he's trying to say is that its a transition between the rattler and the one piece "OGH", with this being a two piece slab with the rattler style inside and a collar on the outside, which is the same plastic construction as the doily, hence "transition holder like doily style slab." I guess it comes down to two ways of looking at the listing. 1) Lister is a spammer, using doily to get attention or 2) Seller is describing the style of slab accurately, saying it is a transition between the rattler and the "Modern" OGH, with the plastic style the same as the doily.

  • I use to see the same when I would search for Redfield Dollars. A seller would use the word "Like"
in front of or after Redfield to catch the search. Then you had a few sellers that would argue with
you if you told them "if it don't say Redfield on the insert, it's not a Redfield". I just stopped saying
any thing about it to a seller. I did notice the other night that Doily does show up more in a search
than it did before and had a lot of wasted listings to look at. From what I saw in real Doily auctions
they're not bring as much money any more.
