New slab - crack info

What is the best way to crack a new slab without damaging the card?

Thanks,

  • Snip a corner, screwdriver to pry it open. Just like the old slab.

Agreed. I don't even snip - I just use channel locks and snap the corner right off (watch for shrapnel though - I do it over a trash can). Pops open just like the old ones once you slide the flathead in there.

Agreed, anything to get a corner open (pliers, hammer, whatever's handy), then screwdriver. Just to clarify, only one of the top corners (near the label) should be destroyed.

Here's a tip for breaking off a corner, no matter
    which method you use.

First put the label end of the slab inside a
sandwich bag. Snip or break the corner
of the slab from outside the sandwich bag.

Then when the corner breaks off, any little
pieces of plastic that want to go flying around
will be trapped inside the baggy.

No danger to your eyes, and no shards to
    find on the floor.
