PSA certification numbers

Is there any way to determine when a card was graded by PSA based on the certification number?

I am looking to purchase cards graded before a certain year.

    No.
I think you only option will be researching variations in label styles.

  • This provides as close as you can get (year ranges): classic thread.
  • The cert numbers are somewhat of a mystery still. The different flips do give a range of periods though of course. I read somewhere the 1st 3 digits are the grader, or something like that. No real info on this that I've ever seen regarding the numbering sequence. That thread though is very informative on the age.

This is good information and pretty much all I need.

    Thank you.
