1953 All-Star game stub - Question for ticket collectors

Question for the ticket collectors.

I just got my 1953 All-Star game stub (Crosley Field/Cincinnat) back from PSA. It was graded a PSA 5. It's really nice, color, surfcae, etc looks good. The red and black is really bold and vibrant.

My question is guaging a value on an item like this. PSA pop report says 13 total graded, PSA 5 is the highest (Pop 2 - mine is included). SMR says a PSA 5 is valued at $75. But again, there is nothing graded any higher.

Just courious what the ticket collectors think of this particular item and how they determine a value, etc.

Thanks!

I spoke with some dealers at the national regarding tickets. On thing I was told is, if you can tie the ticket into something historic or a name, then the value will go up significantly. For example having PSA put that Satchel Paige pitched in relief at the age of 46, which is still a record on the flip will increase the value on resale because it ties into alot of different collectors focus. Ted Williams threw out the first pitch after returning from military service is another idea.

I would imagine the value is in the hundreds, but if I was going to sell it I would want something on the flip. Cool item. Would love to see a scan.

Check ebay and Google for prices of similar stubs. $150-$250 would be my guess.

I am trying to just past history, and am just not seeing anything. A NEAR MINT stub sold way back in 2001 for $110, and it was ungraded. It you ran it at a .99 cent auction, and my honest prediction is somewhere between $100 and $150. If you are happy with that range, then go for it. Who knows, you might get surprised and have it get bid up. Run it for a 10 day auction so the maximum amount of people can see it.

Love the historical player reference on the flip. That could only add to the value.

Notable events and milestones are huge for ticket collectors. There are tickets for 1,000's of games that Ripken played in, but game 2,131 is the one to have. Huggins and Scott auction house seems to have strong prices for tickets. You may want to consign with them.

not to run too far off topic, but actually consecutive game 1 is the ticket to have.........virtually everyone threw out their ticket stub on 05/30/82 (attendence approx. 23k that day) vs everyone keeping their ticket from 2131 game
